I have been a huge Harry Potter fan all my life, I grew up with the movies and consider myself a “Harry Potter generation kid”. I have read all 7 books (several times) and seen all 8 movies countless times, of course, I have also kept up with the spin-off series, Fantastic Beasts. It has even become a Christmas tradition for me and my partner to watch them every year leading up to Christmas Eve. The older I got the more I embraced this geeky side of myself.
There is something so enchanting and magical about the Wizarding Universe. The books are so well written and the movies are so well made. It will forever hold a special place in my heart!
Visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London has of course been on my bucket list for a long while!
How to get there
The Warner Bros Studio is located in Leavesden. You can book tickets including transport from London from multiple booking sites or jump on the train to Watford Junction, where shuttle busses included in your entry ticket will take you to the studio tours. We booked our tickets directly with the warner bros studio website and went by train to Watford Junction.
Nice to know
Book tickets in advance! You book a time slot to enter the studios with a group where you will be introduced to the Studio Tour. Once inside you are free to roam around on your own and spend as much time as you would like. Around halfway through the tour, you’ll find a cafe with hot meals, sandwiches or snacks and of course BUTTERBEER! There are also souvenir shops scattered around the tour and at the end before exiting.
It’s so magical to see all the sets, large and small, costumes, special and visual effects and props. There are also some interactive activities you can do such as having your picture taken on a broom or in a compartment of the Hogwarts Express.
How much time should I plan for the studio tour?
I could have spent days on the Studio Tour! But an average person spends about 3 and a half hours here. However, it all depends on how much time you want to spend shopping or relaxing in the cafe throughout the tour. We stayed in central London and planned on a lazy morning and a cheap but a little bit longer train ride so we bought entry to the Studio Tour at 14:00 and stayed almost until closing time.
