Located on the northeastern coast of Spain, Barcelona has it all. Citylife, relaxing beaches, foodie experiences and historic sites. In short, you’ll find something for everyone in this city. Here is my ultimate Barcelona Bucketlis.

Visit La Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia is probably one of the most known tourist sites in Barcelona. The enormous Roman Catholic Church was designed by Antoni Gaudi and can be seen towering over the rest of the buildings in the city. Although still under construction it has made the UNESCO World Heritage Site list and is without a doubt a must-see site in Barcelona.

Wander the Gothic Quarter

The gothic quarters are one of my favourite parts of Barcelona and the best way to experience them is simply by heading out without a plan. Get lost in the labyrinth of narrow cobblestoned streets in the old city centre of Barcelona. You’ll find small boutiques, restaurants or wine bars as well as historic sites all interlaced with each other.

Visit Mercado de Boqueria

In the middle of Barcelona, you will find a bustling market housing everything from smoothies to fresh fish and seafood. Stepping inside this busy market and browsing all the local goods is also a must-see while in Barcelona.

Stroll through Parc Güell

Parc Güell is another site designed by Antoni Gaudi and has also made the list of Unesco World Heritage sites. The park is colourful and with unique architecture. Similarly to La Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell is another famous tourist attraction and during peak seasons be prepared for large crowds. We visited during January and even then the park sold out.

Check out the rooftop of Palau Güell

Tucked away between la Rambla and the gothic quarter you will find Palau Güell. Once designed by Antoni Gaudi for the industrial tycoon Eusebi Güell. Head up to the rooftop for a view over the city and check out the unique architecture.

Visit the Cathedral of Barcelona

Just north of the gothic quarter, you will find the Cathedral of Barcelona. It was built between the 13th and 15th centuries and is a nice place to start your exploration of the gothic quarter.

Take in Gaudi’s masterpiece Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is one of Gaudi’s most famous designs. Even viewing this building from the outside is a spectacular sight, however, you can purchase tickets to enter.

Slow down in Parc de Ciutadella

Take a break from the busy city life in Parc de la Ciutadella. The park is located close to the gothic quarter and gravel paths wind through the park in the shade of palm trees.

Ride the cable car to Montjuïc Castle

The cable car to Montjuïc Castle was one of my favourite things to do in Barcelona. This military fortress lies on top of Montjuic Hill and dates back all the way to 1640. The castle and the ground also provide an amazing view of the city.
