Where can I find the Raasay Distillery?
Just a stone’s throw away from the busy tourist routes on the Isle of Skye you’ll find the Raasay Distillery, the first legal whisky distillery and accommodation on Raasay. Located on the Isle of Raasay the Raasay Distillery makes for a picture-perfect holiday location. The Island is situated between the famous Isle of Skye and the mainland of Scotland and is most known for being the birthplace of the iconic poet Sorley MacLean. The Isle of Raasay has beautiful nature and plenty of hikes and walks to keep you exploring the island. But if you want to explore the more famous sights of Isle of Skye, it’s only a short boat ride away.
The best way to get to the Distillery is by driving to Sconser, a small crofting township on the Isle of Skye, and getting the boat that crosses directly over to the Isle of Raasay. From Monday to Saturday the boat leaves about every hour so you don’t really have to plan on when to get to Sconser, however, if you find yourself travelling on a Sunday the boat only leaves 3 times a day.
About Raasay Distillery
The Raasay Distillery is the first legal whisky distillery on the Isle of Raasay, and despite being a new distillery they already have their own brand of whisky for you to enjoy. You can be amazed on a guided tour of the distillery with arguably the best view of any distillery in Scotland or spend a luxurious night in one of the distillery’s six exclusive en-suite bedrooms.
Not only does the island have a beautiful view and beautiful nature, the locals are also super friendly! Make sure you stop by their small town while visiting and if you’re out and about exploring make sure to keep your eyes out for the wild rabbits living on the island.
