The dusk is settling over the camp as we’re having a traditional Braai for dinner. As we’re sat enjoying the meal around the fireplace I can see giant silhouettes shaping in the distance. From the vast deserted area around African giants are marching right towards us, toward the waterhole situated in the middle of the camp. As we’re standing up to get a closer look from the edge of the restaurant we can almost stretch out an arm and touch the magnificent creatures. Only separated by a small stone wall I’m face to face with a wild African Elephant.

Elephant Sands was by far my favourite Safari Camp Accommodation. Elephant Sands is a Bush Lodge and Campsite situated in the North-Eastern part of Botswana. The camp is laid out around a natural waterhole, and at dusk, you can watch elephants come out of the dark desert around to have a drink while you’re having your dinner.

As the camp is situated in a 160000 unfenced private conservatory you might even be lucky enough to spot a pack of lions! Especially in the dry season when water is hard to come by. The wildlife is allowed to roam freely so who knows what you may encounter. The camp also offers various safaris and bush adventures such as Makgadikgadi Pans Camp Experience and Bush Walk Adventure. Sadly I only had one night to experience the magic of this amazing place, however, I would highly recommend staying for a longer time.
