From the reindeer 1050 meters above sea level to the blue water down in the fjord, Norway’s raw nature has a lot to offer over short distances. Just a couple of hours outside of Stavanger you’ll find Sirdalen. Most known for its popular ski resorts during the winter time but is also a beautiful place to visit during the summertime.
Suleskard is home to the southern herd of reindeer. They are shy and hard to spot from the road so if you want to snap a photo of Santa’s helpers you better put on your hiking boots and take off onto one of the many hiking trails located in the area. It’s also a beautiful place to just drive through, with plenty of beautiful photo opportunities!
Not far from Suleskard you’ll find the famous road that will take you down to Lysebotn and Lysefjorden. The road down is narrow and steep. Make sure not to overheat those breaks! Similar to a lot of the roads on this trip the road will sometimes be too narrow to fit two cars and you’ll have to pay extra attention to the road in order to stop at the meeting points to fit both you and the meeting traffic. Even though the roads might be a bit of a challenge the picturesque view everywhere around you will make it worth your while.
At the top of the road down to Lysebotn, you’ll find Kjerag Café and Restaurant which is also the spot where you can park to hike Kjeragbolten.
